My husband and I have been married for one year and agree the marriage isn't working. We have decided to legally separate, which will result in divorce. If both of us agree, is it appropriate to date?
Until the judge actually signs the judgment of divorce, you are considered legally married and it would be illegal to have relations with anyone else until such time as the order is signed and filed in the clerk's office.
It is important that you have experienced, legal counsel prepare your separation and divorce. If you're located in the New York City metropolitan area, I strongly suggest that you consider mediation and I would be happy to discuss the matter with you and your spouse at greater length. My number is 212-370-1660. It will save you time, money, and lots of aggravation.
